As part of our services, Meroda Cosmetics records various (personal) data. Which data is involved depends on how you use our website and/or webshop. You can use our site in the following ways:

2. You register for the newsletter or request information material

If you sign up for a newsletter from Meroda Cosmetics, or ask us to send you information material, your personal data will be used to keep you informed about our products and services. When you buy a product from Meroda Cosmetics and leave your details — for example by asking a question — we may inform you about other Meroda Cosmetics products in the future.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter or mailing list at any time, via opt-out or by contacting merodacosmeticsskin@gmail.com.

WHAT DATA

We process the following data:

  • First and last name;
  • In the case of newsletter registration: e-mail address;
  • When requesting information material: depending on how you request it and what you request: home/delivery address, telephone number, IP address, e-mail address;
  • When signing up for the newsletter, you may also enter your date of birth and gender if you wish.

Meroda Cosmetics uses your data for the following purposes:

WHAT LEGAL BASIS

When you register for our newsletter and/or request information material, you give unambiguous consent through an opt-in to the processing of the above data, so that we can send you the newsletter and/or information material. 3. You create an account (and you shop in our webshop)

To place an order through our website, you can register as a customer. You create an account that is password protected and linked to your email address. You enter your details yourself and can also change them at any time by logging into your account.

WHAT DATA

We process the following data:

  • First and last name;
  • Residential (delivery) address;
  • E-mail address;
  • Phone number;
  • IP address;
  • Which products you have viewed in the past 60 days;
  • Your account number/account details
  • Which products you ordered;
  • Your last visit and login are also recorded.

We do not process payment details. Payments to our webshop are handled by a third party (Payment Service Provider, PSP). Through our PSP you can pay securely in a variety of ways. You only enter your credit card or bank account details on these secure pages and then complete your order there. We only receive a message from the PSP about whether your payment has been received, but not your credit card or bank account number. If you choose to pay via Klarna, the above also applies, but in addition we record your date of birth, which is needed to authenticate your payment. This information is shared with Klarna.

WHAT PURPOSE

Meroda Cosmetics uses your data for the following purposes:

  • We use the data you store in your account to process your orders — in other words, to fulfil the agreement with you;
  • We use your IP address, email address and information about your online behaviour to improve our online services, products and your browsing experience. More on this, including the option to refuse the use of cookies, can be found in our Cookie Policy.

Processing the above data is necessary to carry out your order — that is, to perform the agreement we have with you.

CUSTOM AUDIENCE TARGETING

When you order products from us and you have given us permission to do so, we can also use your email address for custom audience targeting via Facebook. Meroda Cosmetics creates a custom audience group by uploading email addresses of its customers into an advertising tool. This group can then be linked to a specific Facebook campaign: only these Facebook users will see the campaign. If you no longer wish to be part of a custom audience advertising tool, you can let us know at any time via the following e-mail address: merodacosmeticsskin@gmail.com.

4. You shop in our webshop without a login/account

To place an order through our website, it is not necessary to register as a customer. You enter the data we need to process your order, and you can also change this data yourself at any time.

  • First and last name;

Processing the above data is necessary to carry out your order — that is, to perform the agreement we have with you. As regards the use of your IP address, the legal basis is also the legitimate interests of our organisation (improving our services and the smooth running of our website).

5. You shop in our webshop and are logged in to your account, but you do not complete your order

If you place products in the shopping cart on our website but then, for whatever reason, do not complete your order — while having left your email address (for example because you were logged into your account) — we may help complete this order. We do so by sending you an email with the products that were in your basket.

  • Which products you placed in the shopping cart but have not yet paid for.

Meroda Cosmetics uses your data for the following purposes:

WHAT LEGAL BASIS

Processing the above data is necessary to check that nothing has gone wrong during your order process. This is therefore necessary to carry out our agreement. As regards the use of your IP address, the legal basis is also the legitimate interests of our organisation (improving our services and the smooth running of our website).

6. You chat with us

If you stay on a web page for a long time, a chat function may start. You can also start the chat function with Customer Care on the website if you have any questions for us. Here you provide a (fictitious) chat name.

  • (optional) e-mail address, if you provide it yourself;

  • The duration of your visit to our website.

7. You provide feedback or reviews via our site

  • E-mail address (we do not display this with your review on the website);
  • The feedback or review content you provided;
  • The number of stars you give our product.

8. You use our customer service

HOW ARE YOUR DATA PROTECTED?

Meroda Cosmetics understands that keeping your personal data safe is very important. The data stored in our database is protected using common electronic security techniques, in line with applicable data security standards.

You only gain access to your account when you enter your e-mail address and password correctly. All passwords and sensitive information are protected by encryption and are never visible to us.

Our websites and web applications are secured with SSL certificates. You can recognise this by the green lock icon to the left of the URL in your browser's address bar. All data you send and receive via our website is encrypted and cannot be read by third parties. The exchange of data between our websites and our processing partners also takes place over secure connections.

HOW LONG WILL YOUR DATA BE STORED?

Meroda Cosmetics does not keep your data any longer than legally permitted and necessary for the purposes for which it is processed. How long particular data is kept depends on the nature of the data and the purposes for which it is processed.

MVB applies the following retention periods:

  • Website visit data: 6 months;
  • Data about a complaint or question: up to 6 months after the complaint or question has been dealt with;
  • Data about the purchase of our products: 5 years (statutory limitation period);
  • Administrative data about the purchase of our products: 7 years (tax retention period)

In the event of unexpected legal proceedings, we will keep your data for up to 6 months after the procedure has been definitively concluded.

ACCESS AND CORRECTION OF YOUR DATA AND OTHER RIGHTS YOU HAVE

1. Inspection, correction, limitation, deletion of your data

If you wish, Meroda Cosmetics can give you an overview of the personal data we hold about you.

If the information turns out to be incorrect, or keeping it turns out to conflict with applicable laws and regulations, we will correct it or delete it at your request. Requests for inspection, correction, restriction or deletion can be submitted at any time by sending an email to merodacosmeticsskin@gmail.com. Meroda Cosmetics will then delete or adjust your data within 4 weeks after confirmation. We will respond to your request within 4 weeks.

2. Making an objection

If you disagree with a particular processing of your data, you can object to the processing at any time by sending an e-mail to merodacosmeticsskin@gmail.com. After receiving your e-mail, we will respond to your objection as soon as possible, but in any case within 4 weeks.

3. Data portability

You have the right to data portability. This means you have the right to receive the personal data you have provided to us in a usable form, so you can transfer it to another controller. If you want to receive your data in such a form, you can send an e-mail to merodacosmeticsskin@gmail.com. We will then contact you as soon as possible to discuss the format in which you'd like to receive the data. We will respond to your request within 4 weeks. If the request is complex, we will inform you within 4 weeks that we need up to 2 additional months to respond substantively. The maximum period for responding to complex requests is therefore 3 months.

4. Withdrawal of previously given consent

If you have given us permission to process your personal data, you can withdraw that permission at any time by sending an e-mail to merodacosmeticsskin@gmail.com. We will answer and confirm your request regarding withdrawal of consent as soon as possible, but in any case within 4 weeks.

5. Submitting complaints to a supervisory authority

If you have any worries or concerns about how we handle your Personal Data, including how we have processed it, you can report this to a data protection authority that has the competence to hear such complaints.
